Some dates, for some reason, always stick in your mind and the Time Team is no exception!
August 1st 2017 will be remembered by the HIB's (Heritage Information Boards) project team for many years to come as it was the day when the 4 Boards arrived and were erected at various locations in the village after many months of debate, planning and then waiting for delivery, but it was worth it.

It is a wish fulfilled for some current and former members of the Time Team, a wish made at one of its first meeting ‘that we ought to have some village History Information Boards like we see in other villages’. That was in early 2009 and now over 8 years later the wish is fulfilled and with a lot more details than was known then. The Information Boards are the second of three legacy projects to come to fruition.

In April we were proud to unveiled three large ‘pop-up’ Exhibition Banners in St Wilfrid's Church, as part of our local, public, Dig Review Presentation and exhibition. The Banners describe different aspects of the role the Church has played in Monk Fryston's developmental over many centuries.
The remaining legacy item - the creation of a mini museum displaying a selection of artefacts discovered whilst excavating is well advanced and we hope to have it in place soon.
The HIB's project team decided that to celebrate and mark the completion of the Legacy Projects by the publication of a new updated souvenir Heritage Trail booklet. This new trail will link the legacy projects and include some of the new knowledge derived from the Finding Fryston Project. It will also include 4 walks circular around Monk Fryston and Hillam which will enable visitors to get a feel for our villages’ heritage. The team are beavering away and are aiming for a 2017 publication date.
